Born and brought up on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland.
Educated at Glasgow University (BSc Science) and Aberdeen University (PGCE Mathematics).
High School teacher in The Nicolson Institute, Stornoway between 1995 and 2008 apart from a year spent teaching in Wellington, NZ.
I am a keen follower of all sports especially Soccer which I enjoy playing and coachIng. In 2006 I was the coach of the U-16 School team that won the Scottish Schools Shield. This was the first time that any sports team from the school had won a National competition. I have been writing soccer reports for my local paper for many years.
Currently taken another years leave to live, teach and write in Brooklyn, New York.
